An image of your assigned Asparagine : Instructions are in the attach files: please complete the assignment as being asking to. 1

With your assigned amino acid which is ASPARAGINE, color all of the bond types within your amino acid as follows:

  • polar covalent bonds (red)

  • non-polar covalent bonds (yellow)

Color all of the areas around your amino acid with the type of bond/interaction that could form with another molecule or atom (assuming it has the correct properties) as follows:

  • ionic bonds (pink)

  • hydrogen bonds (purple)

  • hydrophobic interactions (green)

Then answer the following questions about your amino acid in a follow up post:

  1. Which type of interactions could form between your amino acid and another one in the group? Be specific by naming both amino acids and the type of interaction/bond. To illustrate the interaction upload a picture of the two amino acids with their new bond/interaction.

    • You could do this by drawing each amino acid and then taking a picture and uploading the picture to you post.

    • Insert the two amino acid image files into a PowerPoint file and rotate them until they are bonded they way you want them to. Add a text box label to indicate the type of bond. Next select all and then save as picture. Upload the picture to your post. Do not attach a picture using the paper clip icon since this will make it harder for everyone to see your work as they will have to download the image and then open it locally on their computer rather than see it automatically embedded within the discussion itself.

    • Here is an example response post:

Scenario responses:

  • Boiled: If these two bonded amino acids were boiled which bonds would be broken and which bonds would remain intact?

  • Pasteurized: If these two bonded amino acids were pasteurized at 70 C  which bonds would be broken and which bonds would remain intact?

  • Frozen:  If these two bonded amino acids were frozen at -20 C  which bonds would be broken and which bonds would remain intact?

  • Incinerated:  If these two bonded amino acids were incinerated at 250 C  which bonds would be broken and which bonds would remain intact?
