I need help on doing this chemistry assignment, i dont even know where to start.

Graphing Assignment

A chemist measures the pressure of a gas at various volumes. The pressures she measured are in the following table next to each volume that was tested.

Volume (mL)

Pressure (atm)

Inverse Pressure

Answer the following questions using the table above.

(a) Calculate the inverse pressure (1/P) for all points in the table above. Be sure to fill in units

(b) Using a graphing program construct two appropriately labeled graphs. The first should be a plot of pressure vs. volume. The second graph should be of inverse pressure (1/P) vs. volume. See the Graphing Tips slides for help on this. Hand drawn graphs are not acceptable

(Graphs on Separate Sheets)

(c) Visually inspect both graphs. Which relationship is linear, pressure vs. volume or inverse pressure vs. volume? Use the graphing program to provide the line of best fit / linear fit / trendline, on the graph with the linear relationship. Make sure that the equation for the straight line is displayed on the graph. Do not handwrite the equation on the graph.

(Graphs on Separate Sheets)

(d) Submit both graphs with this lab.

(e) Answer the following questions concerning your linear graph and its equation.

a. What is the slope of the line? (Include units.) ________________________

b. What is the y-intercept of the line? (Include units.) ________________________

c. What is the expected pressure when the volume is 2.63 mL? Show calculations.

d. A student measured the pressure when the volume was 2.63 mL and obtained a value of 1.63 atm. Calculate the % error in the student’s measurement. Show calculations.
