Every step in the process is required for successful completion of the Research Paper.

The following are the steps for this project:

  1. Topic Proposal Turn in a typed topic proposal of one to two paragraphs. The proposal should include the following:

    • What is your research topic? Describe the controversial issue.

    • Why did you choose this topic?

    • What will you argue, refute, defend, or propose?

    • Describe your vision for the argument.

This is just an initial proposal. You may change or modify your topic as you begin your research and as we begin adding readings to the class conversation. Contact me to let me know your thoughts about your new topic idea if you decide to make a change.

  1. Working Bibliography As you start to research, begin to make a preliminary list of sources that are relevant to your topic that you may use to write your research paper. Even after you submit this on the due date, you may add and remove sources from the list as your ideas and your paper progress.

  2. Rough DraftTurn in the Rough Draft that includes your Works Cited. Sources must be cited throughout the draft.

  3. Works Cited In order to create the Works Cited, simply change the title of your Working Bibliography to Works Cited and include any new sources that you added.

  4. Draft EditingComplete the Draft Editing for the paper.

  5. Final Draft Must be submitted with a Works Cited and cite sources throughout the paper.
