Summary & Proposal Objectives

Your analysis should begin by providing an executive summary of the proposal and end with clear objectives that will be answered with good arguments in the main body of the proposal. Plan to use most of this page for a summary and possible one key original image.

Do not be afraid to have blank space on your page. You could even increase the right margin throughout the entire document for extra space for notes…especially if you’re handing this out to your decision makers.

Goal is to strengthen growth and better position the company for future uncertainty

Plan to have three main objective for your proposal.

  1. These objectives may be the main header at the top of the page.

  2. These objectives need to be specific. You will be graded on this.

  3. Each objective should cover at least one page. Due to images and charts, some objectives might require two pages. Fill a second page appropriately.

Feel free to be creative and use a format that you like. This template is just an example template that Microsoft Word provides. I’m using this template to give you an idea of your finished product. I’m not interested in an APA paper. You would not turn in a proposal to your boss in APA format… you would provide summary statements with bulleted points. Focus on being concise.

  1. Use bullet points where appropriate

  2. That helps support your arguments

  3. Remember, all assertions require good arguments!

Also, feel free to increase the right margin if you want to add a text box or image. Plan to incorporate appropriate images, tables, and charts.

  1. Plan to incorporate at least one image, chart, and table per page. Obviously you do not need to have a graphic on the cover or reference pages.

  2. All tables and charts must be original (you create them).

  3. Be sure all graphics are labeled and cited

Concise Wording of Objective #2

Argument Supporting Objective #2

Overall try not to fill each page with text or pictures. Balance and a professional appearance is a requirement. Here are some general formatting requirements:

  1. Keep body text at a 12 point font size. You want to keep the font easy to read, but not obviously wasting space

  2. Incorporate headings that use larger font sizes, see above

  3. Feel free to adjust the right margin for notes and images. Note the difference between page 2 and page 3 of this document.

  4. You can plan to have about 100—200 words per page. That does not include the words used to label and explain graphics.

  5. Use contrast in your text to easily draw the attention of your readers

Appendix A

Cost Tables

Use an appendix page to keep large tables or images you wish to explain in the body of the proposal.

At a minimum, you will have an appendix page and it must include the three financial statements from you company. You may screen-shot the image from the company’s SEC Form 10-K. You will need the Balance Sheet, Statement of Income, and Statement of Cash Flows. Each image must be clearly labeled and easy to read.

If you cite a source, please include where here. The citation does not have to be APA, but I do need to understand which citation goes with which image. Feel free to incorporate a number with each image.
