Cochlear Implants vs ASL communication: Thesis and Outline

Within deaf culture there’s a fierce debate. The ASL community views Cochlear implants as a form of oppression and protest the technology; stressing ASL communication is enough. Hearing families that choose Cochlear Implants argues that denying a deaf child of Cochlear Implants is a disservice to them. My primary goal is to shed light on both arguments, while gaining a better understanding why parents choose the aid of Cochlear implants over ASL as a primary form of communication.
