Unsustainable Fracking in Oil and Gas Exploration and Mining

Oil and gas exploration and mining remains to be one of the major topics of debate among climate change enthusiasts. In a world with the aim of achieving a carbon-free future, it is imperative that players in the energy sector consider eliminating unsustainable processes such as fracking in oil and gas exploration. Fracking, one of the most popular techniques of oil recovery in America, involves the drilling into the earth then directing a mixture of high pressure mixture of sand, water and chemicals to shale rock to release the gas inside. While fracking is effective in gas recovery it poses several environmental threats including increasing seismic activity, water and environmental pollution.

Research question: Why is fracking as a technique of oil and gas recovery in America still legal?

Thesis: Considering the many negative environmental impacts of fracking and oil and gas exploration as a sector, laws and regulations illegalizing fracking in America should be introduced and implemented to further the agenda of exploring renewable energy sources in a carbon-free future.

Outline

  • Introduction of legislations promoting renewable energy and illegalization of unsustainable energy exploration especially Oil and Gas.

  • Creating mass awareness on the negative impact of fracking to the environment

  • Increasing the severity of disciplinary measures against legislation violation regarding environmental protection.

  • Conclusion
