You will receive a grade of F in ENGL 1301.

Effective immediately, you are suspended from The University of Texas at Tyler from January 31, 2023, to January 31, 2024. You will be administratively withdrawn and are prohibited from receiving credit for courses during your suspension period. After you are withdrawn from your classes, you will not be permitted to be present on campus without permission from me. If you are on campus without permission, you will be considered trespassing. For the duration of your suspension, a notation will be printed on your transcript noting that you are currently suspended from UT Tyler. As of January 31, 2024, you can contact my office and request to have the notation removed. Please note that the notation will not be removed unless you contact my office and request to have the notation removed. You may be permitted to apply to enroll for the summer 2024 term; however, you must contact my office prior to your return. If you do wish to re- enroll, you will be required to complete the following: A reflective paper Please note that if you fail to complete your sanctions by the assigned deadline, a student affairs hold will be placed on your account. You will be barred from adding or dropping classes, nor will you be able to request a transcript until your sanctions are completed.

Upon completion of a sanction, submit the appropriate documentation through the Sanction Submission Form . You are required to complete a separate entry for each sanction you have been assigned, and be sure to complete the form in its entirety. If your sanctions are those outlined in the Manual of Policies and Procedures for Student Affairs Sec. 8-303 of the Student Code of Conduct, complete the Hearing Status Form to notify my office if you would like to waive or pursue a Conduct Hearing. If you do not do so by 5:00 PM on February 14, 2023, this decision will be considered final. Either you, as the Respondent, or the Dean of Students can appeal a decision made by the Conduct Officer or Hearing Officer by submitting a written appeal one any of the following grounds: 1.

The sanctions imposed are inappropriate and/or not commensurate with the circumstances; 1 2.

A procedural irregularity affected the outcom e of the matter; 3.

There is new evidence that was not reasonably available at the time of the determination regarding responsibility that could affect the outcome of the matter; or 4.

The Dean of Students, Investigator(s), or Hearing Officer had a conflict of i nterest or bias for or against a party that affected the outcome of the matter.

The appeal itself should be approached like a position paper. While there is no limit on how long or short the appeal statement should be, on average, Respondents have submitted appeals averaging two pages in length. To assist you with this process, the Office of Student Conduct and Intervention has created a Template for an Appeal Submission , which is available through the Student Conduct – Student Resource website. Keep in mind, the first thing you should do when writing an appeal paper is to brainstorm a list of every reason why the appeal should be granted.
