The Goldman Fristoe T est of Articulation-Third Edition [GFT A-3], was administered to assess Carmen’ s articulation [or speech sound production] skills at the single word level. The Goldman Fristoe T est of Articulation-Third Edition [GFT A-3], is a test of articulation. The GFT A-3 is administered by a Speech-Language Pathologist; this test has specific instructions and directions that an SLP should follow closely in order to make sure the test is scored accurately . The GFT A-3 has a set of picture cards that the SLP shows the client; and the client is to respond with what image is on the card when asked by the clinician. The GFT A-3 tests speech sound production in the initial, medial, and final positions. Carmen’ s raw score on the GFT A-3 was a 88, meaning that Carmen made 88 speech sound errors. This does not tell us a lot, so we compare her score to the scores achieved by the normative sample, or group of age-and gender -matched peers who took the same test when it was first developed. Carmen’ s also had a standard score of 57. The standard score is derived from the raw score and indicates how far above or below the average (the mean) an individual's score falls using a common scale. Carmen's percentile rank was .2%. Carmen's phonological processing showed on the Khan Lewis that there was gliding of liquids which is when one produces liquids (l/r) as glides (w/j), this occurred 95% of the time or (19/20) of the trials. There were also stopping of fricatives and af fricates which means there is a result of an af fricate, stop, or glottal stop; stopping and af fricate resulting in a stop or glottal stop which occurred 71% of the time (34/48). Stridency deletion is the process of deleting stridency from a strident, i.e (tʃ to just t), these were present 69% or (29/42). Palatal fronting happened at 92% of the time which is fronting something to be produced at the alveolar ridge, (1 1/12) attempts that were made with error . Short term goal #1 - By November of 2023, Carmen will decrease the phonological process of velar fronting to a level of 40% in words and phrases with no more than two prompts. Short term goal #2 - By September of 2023, Carmen will decrease the phonological process of velar fronting to a level of 60% in words with no more than three prompts. Long term goal #2 - By January 2024, Carmen will decrease the phonological process of final consonant deletion in conversation by 20% in words and sentences. Provided with no more than one verbal prompt per trial Rationale: Carmen exhibited errors when it came to making the final consonant of her sounds. While it was only done a few times (8/36), there is a huge impact on intelligibility when there is a deletion of final consonants. Seeing that Carmen can make these speech sounds it would be of great benefit to tar get this so that her speech can become more clear as a result.
