Interview Paper

Conduct an informational interview (approximately 20-30 minutes) with an HRD professional. This could be someone working in the areas of training and development or organization development or any area related to HRD. You can choose to record the interview or just write down your notes depending on the situation.

Your paper should be able to answer the following questions:

1. Who is (are) your interviewee(s)? Why did you choose him/her(them)? What company does (do) the Interviewee(s) work for?

2. What is his/her their understanding of Human Resource Development as a profession?

3. What kind of HRD activities does (do) the interviewee(s) do in their organization?

4. What component theories did you choose to present to your interviewee(s) (Review Chapter 6)?

5. How familiar is (are) your interviewee(s) with the theories (one or two, depending on the length of your interview) that you chose from our textbook?

6. What is her/his reaction when you explained to him/her (them) the theories from the book?

7. If your interviewee(s) does (do) know of the theories, how are the theories applied in the workplace (Ask them for examples)? Otherwise, what did your interviewee(s) envision their applications in the future? (How useful will the theories be for practitioners?)

8. What you have learned from this interview about the field of HRD and your thoughts on how to integrate theory into practice to promote this field.

In order to answer these questions, you need to compile your own interview questions. Some of the questions you might as include: 1) What do they do in their job? 2) What has happened in their job over the past five to ten years? 3) Where do they see the HRD field going in the next five to ten years? But you do not need to include your interview questions in your paper; neither do you need to include interview transcriptions. Your paper should include introduction, body and conclusion. Your paper should not have grammatical or syntax mistakes and it needs to flow well.

Like all other assignments in this class, Times New Romans Size 12 should be used throughout the paper. The paper should at least be 3 pages long and no more than 5 pages including the cover page, double-spaced.
