Multicultural Awareness Project - Assignment Attached
DirectionsAs global citizens, we have a responsibility to possess cultural awareness, meaning that we need to understand how our own perceptions, beliefs, values, behaviors, etc. are impacted by our cultural background and recognize how the perceptions, beliefs, values, behaviors, etc. of others are affected by their cultural background. Within our personal lives and our careers, although it may be unintentional, we often have our own beliefs and judgments about others that are different from us. This is referred to as having biases about a person or group. For example, biases can be connected to our race, gender, religion, etc. As global citizens, we must work to overcome these biases and judgements within our personal lives and in the workplace.
For this project, you will develop connections to broaden your professional network and utilize the connections you form to foster your individual growth and ability to function as a citizen of a multicultural world. More specifically, this project will require you to connect with an individual or organization related to your desired career path and interview them on the effects that culture has within the workplace and the impact of culture on interactions with customers, clients, patients, etc. Finally, you will complete independent research to support the learning and understanding you gain from the interview you conduct.

In a Word Document, provide your answers to the following prompts:
State your degree program and briefly summarize your desired career path and career goals.
Identify at least three specific individuals or professional organizations in your field with whom you can connect on LinkedIn or email directly via a professional website.
For instance, if you are pursuing a degree or career in human resources, you might look on LinkedIn for individuals affiliated with SHRM. If you are completing a degree in early childhood education, you might browse LinkedIn for people who are members of NAEYC. If you are studying to become a paralegal, you could look on LinkedIn for individuals affiliated with NALA.
You can also search LinkedIn for people who have the job title that you would like to someday have (such as “paralegal,” “coder and biller,” or “head preschool teacher.”
If you are not comfortable using LinkedIn, many professional organization websites offer ways for you to connect via email, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Remember, though, as you have learned in previous courses, cultivating a professional online presence is important for your job search and future promotional opportunities. Creating a LinkedIn profile and connecting with others is one way to do this. Though it might feel strange or awkward to message strangers to discuss your chosen career field, this is a great way to start to form professional connections that can benefit you now and in the future.
Once you have identified at least three people or organizations with whom you can connect via LinkedIn, email, etc., start to reach out to them to introduce yourself and to ask if they would be willing to assist with your assignment. If you need suggestions or guidance for writing your message to them, please contact your instructor.
