Scenario

You are the DEI consultant for one of the organizations listed below (select one). The senior leadership team asked you to assess the internal demographics of the organization, analyze the diversity statement, and identify trends, opportunities, and challenges related to DEI. Once you complete your analysis, they would want you to provide recommendations for opportunities for areas of improvement, such as creating more awareness, showing a larger commitment, or expanding their DEI footprint. You will present to the leadership team your findings and recommendations via a PowerPoint presentation with speaker notes.

You must review, analyze, and present a detailed DEI action plan, including your recommendations that can be implemented in the organization you selected. You can use testimonials from employees and/or customers, news articles, and DEI reports from the website of the company you selected.

The demographic information you pull for your organization must come from the company’s website and be used in your reference and works cited accordingly. Any news articles or other research must be from a reputable source and must be listed as a reference and cited. There will be four submissions for this project.

Requirements and Formatting

Your Portfolio Project must be formatted as follows:

  • APA formatting (refer to the Student Resources tab in Blackboard)

  • At least four references (cited appropriately)

  • At least 7 - 9 slides with speaker notes

  • Title and reference slide

  • Include graphics

  • Be creative

Organization Overview


Create at least four slides (with speaker notes) of the organization’s overview that include the components below:

  • Provide an overview of what the organization does: include the CEO, what they sell, who is their targeted customer, number of locations. How large they are, the markets they are in, and the make-up of the leadership team and/or the board of directors).

  • Summarize the Diversity Statement(s): If there is not one, write a recommended one based on what is known about the organization as it relates to DEI.

  • Discuss their efforts and commitments to DEI (based on research and or what they have on their website).

  • List their internal demographics (This can also include what demographic, including who holds which positions).


Metrics with Trends Analysis and Recommendations

Create at least three slides (with speaker notes) of the organization’s metrics and key performance indicators (KPI). Include a descriptive table with a summary.

  • Summarize the KPIs used to measure their DEI initiatives, successes, opportunities, etc. Include what you, as the DEI consultant, believe is lacking or needs to be more detailed.

  • Create an analysis of the Strengths, Opportunities, Weaknesses, and Threats you identified based on the metrics and KPIs you reviewed, the lectures, etc. (Identify at least 3 for each).

  • Provide your recommendations to the company for the implementation of the DEI initiatives.

DEI Action Plan PowerPoint Presentation with Speaker Notes - Final Submission

You created a PowerPoint with speaker notes (7-9 slides, plus a title slide & reference slide) action plan that includes the following:

  • Overview

  • The organization’s diversity statement

  • Internal demographics

  • Commitment & initiative

  • Metrics/KPIs

  • Include the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (include external demographic impacts where applicable) of your recommendations.

  • Your Recommendations for (improvement, creating more awareness, showing a larger commitment, expanding their DEI footprint, and any other recommendations you feel are pertinent).

  • Your recommended implementation of the action plan


This is the final submission of your Portfolio Project. Incorporate your instructor’s feedback, make any additional corrections, and submit the PowerPoint presentation with speaker notes to your ePortfolio. Upload your Portfolio Project to the Program Outcome in your ePortfolio listed below. Use the following naming convention: HURS200 – Portfolio Project:

  • Human Resources Specialist, AAS

    • Analyze data to make informed human resources decisions.

  • Organizational Leadership, BPS

    • Examine effective organizational leadership skills and change management strategies to enhance business performance.

For the final piece of your Portfolio Project, you will reflect upon the course and how it relates to your future workplace. This reflection will be delivered as a Word document 250-500 words in length. In your reflection, address the following prompts:

  • Summarize the importance of this project to your future career.
