Assignment/Project- ARTH334: Understanding Movies
Assignment - ARTH334: Understanding Movies
This assignment project is broken up into three stages:
Stage One (Proposal)
Stage Two (Draft/outline)
Stage Three (final draft)
For the project, you will select at least one film that represents your career or career goals (NURSING). This project can either be a paper or a presentation (such as a narrated PowerPoint or video essay).
This is both an analysis and a research essay. You will examine the film(s) and discuss how they relate to your field (Nursing): how accurate it is, whether they present a positive or negative view, and whether they offer insights into the field (Nursing). How does the film use the production elements (direction, cinematography, production design, sound, editing, and acting) to convey its theme?
Research and analyze reviews of the film to understand how others perceive it. Include articles and analysis from people in the field (nursing) as well as outside of the field.
Stage 1 - Proposal (must include the following for full points):
The title and director of the film.
The career field you will examine.
How do you propose to research your topic?
A 100-word rationale for choosing this film.
Stage 2 – Draft/Outline of project.
This should outline your thesis, research, and the structure of the final project.
Stage 3 – Final paper/presentation
This should include a bibliography, if it’s a written paper (it should be between 5 and 7 pages). This does not include the bibliography. The body of the paper should have a one-inch margin on all four sides, be double-spaced, and use a standard font style (such as Times New Roman, Courier, or Arial) and font size (11 or 12).
If a presentation, it should include citations within the presentation as well as a research credit page.
