ScenarioYou are a Human Resources (HR) Representative working for XYZ Imports, a small business that has recently experienced a great deal of growth and expansion. XYZ Imports is a small company and has been managing its own payroll system. Now that the company is experiencing significant growth in business, with the signing of contracts with several more firms, there is a need to increase the company’s workforce. The number of workers on the payroll is expected to double within the next four months, with more projected growth in the future. While this is certainly a good problem to have, it has also revealed that there is a need to improve how data is stored and managed to handle the increased volume of data. This has resulted in an immediate need to outsource the payroll to a third-party organization. The CEO has selected ADP, one of the largest payroll organizations in the United States. To set up the payroll with ADP, you must provide information related to each employee as mandated under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). ADP requested that this information is provided in an Excel Spreadsheet along with tables. Your job is to help prepare for this transition by creating the necessary items in Microsoft Excel.
DirectionsThis project will help you demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Excel. You will begin by completing data entry. Then, you will create a chart from the data to demonstrate Excel’s capabilities for visualizing data. Next, you will transform the original data using the Power Query Editor to extract data from the original table into two new tables with related information. Finally, you will create of a fourth and final table using the time-and effort-saving features, forms and macros. Throughout this project, you will utilize several features that will be useful to you as you progress through your academic and professional careers.
Your Portfolio Project must include the following:
Data entered faithfully from source material
1 table created from original data entered
Use of formula to generate Wages Paid by Pay Period column
1 clustered bar chart
2 tables created using Power Query Editor
1 table created using forms and macros

Deliverable items for the Portfolio Project will be required at different points during the course. Details for each submission are included below in the Deliverable Descriptions.
Due by the end of Week 1 at 11:59 pm, ET.
You will submit your Excel worksheet with column headings and formatting applied.
Open a new Excel workbook.
Open the image file, “Employee Records,” found in Blackboard. This file provides the source data you will need to complete the next step.
In Excel, enter column headings in row 1 only. Begin in cell A1, hitting tab after each entry to get to the next cell in the row. Enter the column headings found in the Employee Records source material (starting with First Name and continuing across row 1).
Select the entire header row. Apply shading by clicking the Fill Color button (Home tab, Font group) and selecting any shade of blue.
Save this project as “FirstNameLastName VOIM112 – Portfolio Project.”
