Argument: single parent households in a growing problem that affects a child's learning ability. It affects daily life of the members living in those households. Single parent households also affects life socially.

  1. A child's learning is affected greatly in a single parent household.

    1. The students that have only one parent at home sometimes have problems with school and getting a good education.

      1. “when single parents are working full time and therefore have less available time for their children, the situation may lead to lower academic achievement”

    2. The behavior of these kids is also affected and will normally get in more trouble for the lack of discipline.

2. “The absence of discipline results in the increase of anger and frustration and an increased risk for violent behavior”

  1. Single parent households affects the daily life in these environments.

    1. Quality child care is most of the time not there because the single parent would be working most of the time.

      1. “Approximately 53 percent of single mothers are not in the workforce because they are unable to find affordable, quality, child care”

    2. There is Stress to both the parent and the child in this type of household.

2. “Studies reveal that parenting stress leads to a stricter disciplinary style and less nurturing behaviors toward the child”

    1. There has to be Responsibility that the parent makes time for the child and helping them when they need it.

3. As a single parent, it is definitely the responsibility of the mother to find the correct mentors and role models for our children

    1. Children sometimes will lose the influence that the different gender roles in a traditional household can have on a child.

    2. The absence of one adult means less human resources
