Discussion Question

From the late Middle Ages through the Enlightenment and some time after, mathematics was increasingly seen as a way to describe natural phenomenon precisely. Up to the end of the 19th century the universe was seen as mechanical, all of the observed, complex motion and forces seen in nature were thought to be deterministic. How does the modern, scientific world view differ?
