The development and research of Sony PlayStation began back in 1990 headed by Sony engineer

Ken Kutaragi known as the father of PlayStation. PlayStation is a game console which uses a CD-ROM to

play video games. It was the first of its kind because due to all other video game consoles only used game

cartridges to play video games. PlayStation was considered a new product because the its functionality was different from the existing products on in the this market, which created a whole new industry thus disrupting the existing industry (Kerin, Steven & William 251). The new technology It also offered 3D graphics, which that made playing video games more enjoyable and realistic it

almost seems like you no subjective papers in this class for the player as are part of the video game itself.

The first PlayStation was first launched back in 1994, it use a noun instead of pronouns was a huge hit from the very start in Japan, having sold 300,000 units within the first month. PlayStation later in 1995 debut in the United States in 1995 at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, within a year they sold almost 2 million units in the United States and over 7 million worldwide. In 2003 Sony PlayStation reached a milestone by selling 100 million units (Bellis 2016). NBA 2k18 is a simulation of playing basketball as a video game, by giving you the power and

athletic ability to make amazing trick shots. It gives you the opportunity to be your favorite NBA basketball player. The level of difficulty of trick shots is by ranking of the NBA player. An example, Lebron James is ranked #1, he would have the most athletic ability and trick shots. The video game overall is quite enjoyable to play especially for the basketball enthusiast.

Description of Product/Service

SWOT analysis, alternatively referred to as SWOT matrix, is an acronym where S stands for strengths, W stands for weaknesses, O stands for opportunities and T stands for threats. Therefore, this analysis evaluates the elements already mentioned regarding a project or any business venture. NBA 2K, being a product used to emulate basketball game in form of video games, is affected by the same elements of the SWOT analysis. (Osita, Onyebuchi & Justina, 2014). See figure 1.

Strengths are the elements which gives NBA 2K advantage over other competing products while weaknesses, on the other hand, places the product on the disadvantage part relative to other products. Opportunities involve the elements in the environment where NBA 2K is situated that it can exploit to its advantage while threats are elements that can trouble the product. Competitive Analysis

The market for video games is one of the most competitive, top competitors like Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft have no problem selling their consoles to people. Says who? Although, Nintendo dominates the market place due to its ease of use and reputation. Sony and Microsoft are working on gain ground in this very competitive market buy. Gaming consoles main targets are segmented mainly by age, with white males between the ages of 18-24 being the biggest target. Games associated with any gaming console are price competitively, depending on the console the consumer has owns will depend on how much they would pay for the NBA 2K18 game, newly released games can range from $50-$60. NBA 2K18 is promoted in the same way many newly released games are through television advertisements and social media platforms. Sony PlayStation can offer a lower price compared to Microsoft for them to gain more customers but often, games are purchased by what console a consumer would have already. See figure 2.

Target Market Segments

The target market for the NBA 2K18 Sony PlayStation game would first include anyone who owns a PlayStation 4 game console. The 2k games are also all rated E for everyone but not everyone plays the game. The main target are white males from age 18-24 but the consumers vary depending on the game. Gamers are the primary focus for the PlayStation product itself, so marketing to gamers specifically is a strategy for the 2K18 video game. As far as them game, it should market to people who watch NBA as well as these are people who enjoying playing the game and who know the players and teams that they would using in the game. These consumers are more likely to buy because not only are they fans, but being able to play as your favorite players is excited. Revise sentence structure

The demographic target for who buys NBA 2k18 games for Sony PlayStation should focus on males from age 12-40 years old. This is the main age range but could vary. Explain variation Young kids with the ablility to understand how to play video games are playing NBA 2k18. Different races that play as well include White and African American consumers. Life stages are youth, collegiate and adult. The birth era would reflect more on Generation Y. and why is that?

Psychographic

Psychographic market would target personality and lifestyle of people. Games are not need but more wanted. This would focus more on innovators and the price of the game would be in question as well. Consumers have the ability to play the game on their console with friends or online, so the focus should be on social consumers as well as competitive one. Sources needed.

Geographic

The regions include the Northern America market, the Japanese market as well as the European market. The game is marketed online, on television as well as in stores. NBA 2k18 is a worldwide phenomenon as online play makes it possible for someone in Northern America, able to play someone in Japan.

An international roll out requires a different SWOT and affect product specs in terms of voltage, language, pricing in different currencies, psychographics, etc.

Behavioral Factors

Behavioral factors include retail store type, the usage rate, the user status as well as awareness. The focus would target heavy users that shop online for the game or in retail game stores. Gamers go to retail stores to play games as well as buy them as they like to test them out before purchase. The usage for the game will be regular. What are your basis for these conclusions? Use the existing product to compare and contrast your consumer segmentation for the upgraded product.

Today Sony PlayStation does not just offer the use of playing Video games like it did when it first came out. Says who? Sony PlayStation gives you access to thousands downloadable apps such as Netflix, Hulu, and Crackle. These apps allow you to stream videos and TV, other apps allow you to play games, educate yourself and much more. If you are a bit older school and have DVD's or CD's this can use them as well. Also, Sony has evolved from there gaming remotes having cords attached to the system, to now having cordless remotes with dual shock which always you to feel more a part of the game. For many people the ability to have access to their social media such as Facebook on their gaming console is huge, Sony PlayStation 4 now offers that. Another feature that is offered is the ability to share screens with another gamer that is elsewhere. Lastly, you are now able to stream music while playing your favorite Sony video game. In the beginning, they solely targeted video gamers, in today's market with all they have to offer they attract not only gamers but non-gamers. Although there target market is gamers it is not restricted to just playing video games. Again, this is not a paragraph but an editorial without citations are mere opinions.

Video games can be intimidating for consumers that did not grow up with them. There are now games available such as NBA 2k18 that even a very basic Only owner can play. People that have a passion for basketball can be drawn to play this game on their console. For a die-hard basketball fan, it is great to be able to play your favorite player. Also with the high definition graphics and dual shock remotes that allow you to feel every bump and shot in your hands, makes you feel like you are there. Also, you can compete in tournaments virtually with other gamers. You can also use a virtual helmet to play your Sony games. When wearing this helmet, you have screen covering your eyes which blocks everything else around you out. This really gives you the "real life" gaming experience. This game has yet to come out in the year 2018 but it is drawing in many consumers. Sony's competitor with Microsoft Xbox has affected their target market but Sony can offer features the Xbox cannot.

Sony Play station’s main target consumer are gamers, so they make sure they give their gamers a mind-blowing experience. Xbox target market is gamers but offers great entertainment to non-gamers. Sony competitor Xbox allows you to stream from your cable box to the Xbox. There are many more games to choose from with the Sony PlayStation, along with gaming purchasing deals. Ultimately although Sony is like the Xbox, it is very different.

Conclusion

We can conclude that the NBA 2k18 Sony PlayStation game is a highly anticipated prouduct that is being released. Every year there are new additions made to the game that add to the demand for the game as the quality and graphics get better as the years go by. If the PlayStation is not the only game console that the product is sold for, this fact makes it necessary to market to all groups. Without having a PlayStation currently, it would not be possible to use this product. Factors such as having that PlayStation make it more likely that the product will be purchased. With updated technology, online play is one key that attracts this product to competitive consumers. If consumers are looking to play with their favorite teams, have their own story made, or play competitively among friends, then this is the right product for them.
