English 5-1

The argument to be addressed in my persuasive essay is about Transportation Demand Strategy. The Transportation Demand Management is a strategy that is used to increase the efficiency and sustainability through the encouragement of a shift from single-occupant vehicles to non-single occupants’ vehicles. In another word, the Transportation Demand Management is used to manage traffic jams by reducing personnel cars in the city centers and major urban setting (Sharpies, 2002). The Transportation Demand Management would be a persuasive essay that convinces the urban planners and engineers about the efficiency and sustainability of the towns (Sharpies, 2002).

The three possible key points include:

  •  The role of the government to manage Transportation: It is the responsibility of government to manage transportation networks and avoid traffic congestion (Rye, 2016). Therefore, cities with Transportation Demand Management programs already in place. Transportation Demand Management enables the government at all levels to ensure that there is efficiency in transportation so that the country (Rye, 2016). Also, it is cumbersome to deal with vehicles that emanate from different places (rural regions) and increase traffic in

  •  The Transportation Demand Management would give a leeway for the sustainable environment: The implementation of Transportation Demand Management would provide a better convenient way for avoiding congestion in most of the urban cities (Rye, 2016).

  •  Congestion Pricing: The implementation of Transportation Demand Management would discourage drivers from using personal cars in certain areas (Rye, 2016). The drivers would be discipline and in term reduces the level of congestion during the day. This method increases the rate of transit ridership, decreases the levels of pollution and number of vehicular accidents and provides more reliable travel times.

The main audience for the essay would be major stakeholders in the transportation industry such as government, drivers and motor mobile owners and passengers. The potential challenges for the government would be the cost of implementing the program is too high. Therefore, there might be underfunding or no funding of the program (Rye, 2016). The main challenges for the drivers and motor vehicles owners would be the congestion of public transportations. Most people buy cars for convenience, and hence, the implementation of the program would force them to use public transportation at peak hours. The passengers would have challenges of timing (Sharpies, 2002). The public transportation has fixed or rather a rigid schedule that would inconvenience them.

The goal of the essay would be to provide pertinent information on the various approach of utilizing Transportation Demand Management to guarantee that there is an effective society to deal with the challenges of traffic congestion (Rye, 2016). Additionally, Successful implementation of this approach will, therefore, require constant research to find better convenient ways to avoid congestion in urban cities

The Transportation Demand Management has been implemented in major cities like London using congestion pricing approach. The approach discourages drivers from using certain areas during peak hours (Rye, 2016). Any drivers that violate the congestion pricing would be charged. That in turn, increases the level of transit ridership and reduces the level of pollution and accidents during peak times. Additionally, it has led to the decrease of bus delay by 50%. Some of the strategies of TDM includes parking management, high capacity transit, and transportation-efficient development have proven to be successful in the decrease of congestion (Sharpies, 2002).

The key points of the essay include strategies and merits of Transportation Demand Management that align with the supporting resources of London implementation (Rye, 2016). The key points include congestion pricing, the role of government and supports a sustainable environment. For instance, the city official’s implementation the Transportation Demand Management as it is their work to ensure there is efficiency (Rye, 2016). Transportation Demand Management approaches include parking management, high capacity transit, and transportation-efficient development have proven to be successful in the decrease of congestion.

The integrating evidence that would be most effective is the reduction of delays in London from 30% to 50% meaning that Transportation Demand Management is effective (Rye, 2016). The evidence shows that TDM can be effective when implemented correctly. Secondly, it can be a negative reinforcement for the reckless drivers who does not care about lane disciplines and traffic rules (Rye, 2016).

The revision strategy that would be used is the Focus on Development. The focus on the development would ensure that the paper has the main idea of the paper from enough supporting materials (Sharpies, 2002). Therefore, the supporting materials should help paper to have an idea about Transportation Demand Management. Secondly, the supporting materials should relate to the main idea logically.

Constructive feedback from an outside party is significant as it points out to the mistakes of the work (Rye, 2016). Therefore, my writing improves by avoiding the mistakes and ensuring that I follow the recommendation from an outside party. Secondly, an outside party gives an insight to the main idea of the paper (Sharpies, 2002). It also gives time for me to reflect on my paper including the main idea of the paper and sentence structure.
