Required Sources: At least three sources from Weeks 1 through 5 of our syllabus, including a t least one source from KAAS and one from CAA The Assignment Please write an essay that analyzes and goes in -depth on a specific course topic we have read about and discussed in the last few weeks. You should use at least three sources to support and develop your argument; one must be from KAAS and one must be from CAA. Your paper should contain a clear, complex, and original thesis that provides a new perspective on your chosen topic. Your analysis should demonstrate an understanding of historical, social, intellectual, and/or cultural contexts. The essay should show a strong engagement with the sources and attempt to put sources in conversation. That does not necessarily mean all of your sources will agree with each other; complications and disagreements can sometimes produce the most interesting conversations. Aim for a total of 850- 1000 words for this assignment. Double -spacing, Times New Roman, 12 point font, and 1- inch margins are preferred. Include page numbers. This is a formal essay, so you should remain objective and avoid using first person , singular (I, me, myself) or plural (we, us, our, ourselves). I prefer MLA in -text citations. Please include a Works Cited page. Criteria for Evaluation 1. The essay is about a relevant, specific course topic, and contains a clear, complex, and original thesis. 2. The essay demonstrates an understanding of historical, social, intellectual, and/or cultural contexts. 3. The essay uses at least three sources from the syllabus, in order to support and develop its argument. The sources are put in conversation. 4. The essay is coherent and well -organized, free of grammatical and mechanical mistakes, remains objective, uses MLA citation correctly, and includes a Works Cited page.
