  1. Problem background and definition

<This section describes the problem or opportunity the project seeks to address using factual information.>

Please describe your project in narrative form using these questions as a guideline. You may delete the box for your submission.

I chose to build a wireless mobile cell phone charging station, because most people dislike being restricted on plugging the cell phones up to the wall outlet. What better than a wireless charging station to solve the problem. Most of the human population charge their phone by using a wired cable from the phone to the wall. The end user would be anyone using a cell phone.

PROBLEM DEFINITION (Your project should solve a well-defined engineering problem):

  • What is the problem that you are addressing?

  • Who is the end user, and what is the end user profile?

  • What is the target market?

  1. Existing Solutions

<This section provides some of the existing solutions and discuss the opportunities for improvement>

Please describe existing solutions in narrative form using these questions as a guideline. You may delete the box for your submission.

The only existing problems that I’m having is trying to find the right pad for the mobile charging station. The manufacturer is meree, and no they do not assist or answer any question on how to solve or improve the product. As of this moment the only way to figure out if I can solve the issues, is by continuing my research, and trouble shooting.

EXISTING SOLUTIONS

  • What are the existing solutions to the problem?

  • Who are the manufacturers?

  • Do they solve the problems or there are opportunities for improvement?

  • Is there a way to solve the problem in a more cost-effective manner than the existing solution?

  1. Project Goal

The goal for this project is to build a prototype for cell phones, and demonstrate its mobile charging.

<This section provides a clear, concise statement of the project’s purpose and intended results. The project goal statement should be brief (one sentence).>

  1. Proposed Solution
Engineering Solution: Please describe this in a narrative form for the solution to the problem highlighting significant design features and benefits.

The significance of this project is to create a wireless charging pad, which is great in most cases because all you need is a USB cord without the usage of a wall outlet. The proposed solution is to create a charging pad where the individual would only need to place their adapter circuit over the pad to charge their mobile phone. The advantages of this proposal, is that you’ll be able to share the charging pad between different phones.

PROPOSED SOLUTION (You should have a top-level idea of the solution or how you will solve the problem):

  • What is the significance of this project?

  • What is the proposed solution or approach?

  • What are the advantages of your proposed solution?

  1. Key Stakeholders

There are five key stakeholders, Project manager, the project team, the function management, the sponsor, and the customers. Well since I’m doing this project on my own. I’m basically each one of the stakeholders accept for the customer. If I was doing a project at work I would most defitnitly be the project manager. I’m the type of person who only wants to see his team work as one and produce the best merchandise ever.

<This section provides a description of the people with the strongest interest in or influence over project work and results. If you are doing a project at work, identify the people who are working on the project or have interest in the project and explain what they will be doing and what you will be doing.>

  1. Assumptions and Constraints

The assumptions of the project would have to be time management, buying the material to start the project. The constraints of the project would have to be the funding and the budget of the project.

<This section identifies and explains the assumptions and constraints of the project.>

6.1 Assumptions

The assumptions of this project would have to be the scheduling, technology, resources, scope, and most importantly the expectations.

6.2 Constraints

The constraints of this project impacting this project would probably the funding, timelines, and competence.

  1. Impact Analysis

IMPACT ANALYSIS (Describe how the following issues impact your problem and its solution):

  • Organizational impacts: the project on many levels on the roles, skills, reporting structure, training of the team member, and the staffing as well.

  • Networking standards:

  • Security impacts: the project because confidentiality of the projects resources can be exposed by the competitor. This is a prime example of a security failure.

  • Ethical impacts: effects the people that works for you, and who you’re working for. You have to worry about violating the rights of the workers, biasness, blaming others.

  • Social impact: effects the project because their confidence, and control somewhat influences of most people would interact with others within the group.

  • Legal:

  • Economic:

  • Target market/end user: impacts the project mainly because it could play a huge part in the final quality of the product!

CAUTION: Students often consider the impact analysis as an afterthought and give little serious thought to this section. However, considering these issues is an integral part of designing an IT solution or system in the broader context. Designs and their implementations have failed for lack of consideration of such issues.

  1. Risks

A risk on this project could be the amount of time it will to build the prototype. Building the wireless mobile phone charger may involve new and different components that may not be accurate, so staying on pace is a must!

<This section lists project risks. Risks are something that may or may not happen in the future that could have a negative impact on the project.>

  1. Estimated Cost

I’m going to be working on this project at home, so the initial estimate for this project is going cost me a little over two hundred dollars.

< Provide an initial estimate of what the project is expected to cost with a top level breakout. If you are doing this at work, what are the projected costs (if any) incurred by you? >

  1. Estimated Duration

It should only take 6 weeks for me to complete the project.

< Provide an initial estimate of the project duration. Remember that the project must be completed (designed, built in hardware, tested and presented by week 7 of ET450.>
