Introduction to Visual Arts: Frank Lloyd Wright’s artworks

Summary

It is true that different artists have a different taste which determines certain characteristics of artwork of particular artist (Harris, 2007). In this paper, I will analyze and discuss at the work of an American artist called Frank Lloyd Wright. Lloyd was an architect and was born in the year 1867 and made his great contribution in developing the organic and distinctly American architectural style (Wright, 2010). Frank Lloyd designed many iconic and commercial buildings.

This paper will thus discuss two specific artworks of Frank Lloyd Wright which made great impressions during his time. These artworks are Falling water House and Guggenheim of New York. The Guggenheim was to be a museum in New York that embodied Lloyd’s attempt to solidify the natural plasticity of the organic bodies in architecture (Frank, 2013). The corridors were interdependent sections but divided like the way the membranes in citrus fruits. Its spiral design looked like nautilus shell that had continuous spaces curving freely on each another (Levine, 1997). The medium is a print of B&W photograph, design, and drawing which was made in the year 1945.

Next will be his artwork called the Falling water artwork of which chosen the subject was used to show a high level of innovation that put harmony in environment and humanity (Hess, 2005). The medium is also print photograph, design, and drawing and the period was the years of 1936 to 1938. These two artworks developed American architecture through innovative and environmentally friendly ways (Fowler & Wright, 2002).

I have found this book as very useful as it will help in explaining why the artist designed the Falling Water and the Guggenheim Museum through organic architecture. Thus, it will help to make informed critic off the work of this artist.

This book by Frank Lloyd Wright is a useful digital print that gives the readers a good chance to explore the organic artworks as the great American development in the commercial artworks. This book has complete prints of Frank’s work which will enable me to discuss and critic the two selected artworks. I find it very useful as it flows chronologically with ideas or Wright’s work which will provide valuable contextual information for the subject.

The article explores conscious structures endorsed by Frank Lloyd Wright through the systematic research and detailed information regarding the topic. The article will thus help in understanding Wright’s Organic Artwork, particularly the Falling water House and Guggenheim Museum.

In this publication, Alan Hess analyzes the Frank Lloyd Wright’s artwork, particularly in the houses, as great events of his major contribution to the modern architecture. The book has stunning photos of various artworks and will thus help in discussing the works as adopted during the time of history. The author suggests various houses for different uses and places. The book, in particular, explains Wright’s Falling water as the important masterpiece that perched over a waterfall in the Pennsylvania highlands. The book is therefore very resourceful regarding the subject of discussing and criticizing Wright's artwork.

This book studies the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright from the late years the 1880s until it ends with the work off construction of the New York’s Guggenheim Museum. The book provides a comprehensive and in-depth discussion and analysis of the artworks. It explains that most of Wright’s buildings were designed at least twice which will be an important feature in writing the critic paper. It is thus a good source for the topic.

This is a straightforward book about the essential work of Frank Lloyd Wright and contribution in American architecture. The books have photographs for the pieces of wright’s work and present these illustrations well with explanations. This book will be important in preparing and guiding me to discuss and critic the Falling water House and Guggenheim of New York artworks in a meaningful way. Besides, the. The book has a very clear biography of the artist and thus will be a very useful source for the assignment.
