Introduction

This assignment will talk about Mona Ganem Almarri. This report will cover so many things. First of all, her background and biography, what does she work and what does she won. Secondly, her adult life when she as a leader, since 1999 to 2013. Thirdly, barriers, Mona Al-Marri has been one of the most influential Arab women leaders who have done many contributions for the welfare of the women in the society. Fourthly, short team strategies and long team strategies.

Her Background and Biography

Mona Ganem Almarri is Emirati media, director of the Information Office of the Government of Dubai. Many leadership positions assumed most notably the head of the Dubai Press Club and a member of the Board of DMI management also holds the responsibilities of Vice President of Dubai Ladies Club, the membership of the Executive Committee of the Young Arab Leaders UAE Chapter and Chairman of the Dubai Women Establishment Management. It contributed a key role in the launch of the Dubai Shopping Festival, and worked as director of decision support system project, to be mapped later as Executive Director of the Dubai Press Club. During the years of her work as head of the Dubai Press Club, she led the two media projects launched in the region, namely the Arab Journalism Award and the Arab Media Forum. In addition, she won the title of "global young leaders" from the World Economic Forum in 2014. Moreover, she holds a degree from the Higher Colleges of Technology, College of Business Administration in 1996.

Continue with her Adult Life – or Life as a Leader

Firstly, in 1999 under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Mona was appointed Executive Director of the newly launched Dubai Press. Secondly, in 2008, she was named Outstanding Business Leader of the Middle East by the New York-based World BPO Forum, which comprises chief information officers of Fortune 500 companies. Thirdly, in 2013, Mona was chosen by Forbes Arabia as one of the 30 most influential Arab women in the government sector in the Middle East. In the same year, Arabian Business magazine ranked her 18th among the 100 Most Powerful Arab Women.

Barriers:

Mona Al-Marri has been one of the most influential Arab women leaders who have done many contributions for the welfare of the women in the society. Mona, who was been appointed as a Director-General of Dubai Government Media office has lead the department to great success with constant efforts. Mona had to bear many pains to reach the heights of success. The main obstacle or barrier that she faced was the orthodox thinking of society people. She was never encouraged by her relatives or friends to step in the private or public sector business. Though, she always had a support from her parents when she had planned to start a career (Badriya, 2013). The empowerment of women stall lacks in Middle-eastern region as compared to the empowerment of women in other countries. Even today, more number of seats are handed over to Men and some men do not like working women around them admits Mona. She speaks that she was often being criticized with negative comments that Islam does not allow a women to do business, but, one of the oldest and richest Business owner was Khadijah (swt) and she was the first women to convert into Islam. So, Islam has no restrictions upon women doing business or working for the welfare of the society. The comments of negative people still continue to exist for Mona Al Marri but, her success stories and contributions give a lesson to people with low thinking that it’s not about a man or a women being a leader, it is about working for the welfare of the society and saving the society from losses, Gender does not matter, Work Matters. (Badriya, 2013)

Short term strategies

Mona Al-Marri has done many contributions for the welfare of the society and for the betterment of the Women’s Status in Arab region. The short term strategies for Mona Al-Marri are that she wants more women to be part of High profile companies and own a reputed position in the company. Mona is also making constant efforts through media for women empowerment. She wants every woman to receive justice as many women are still living in vulnerable conditions and are treated as slaves. Mona also admits that out of 193 members of UN, only 8 countries represent their female leaders and from GCC country there is no female ministers or spokesperson (Kawach, 2009). Mona wants women to come forward in politics and make a firm place in the world of politics to show that women can achieve all milestones as men can do and can prove to be the best leaders.

Long term strategies:

In a recent Global Women forum that was held in Dubai in February Mona Al-Marri had shared her long-term strategies with media. Mona, speaks that in upcoming years women will show that how society and economy can benefit from the innovative ideas of women. She looks forward to open more working opportunities for women in media, Mona has further added that she will provide a stable platform for women in future which will be source of better life for women and it will be an inspiration for future women. (Manahil, 2016)

Conclusion

In conclusion, this report covered so many things about Mona Ganem Almarri. She is Emirati media, director of the Information Office of the Government of Dubai. In 2008, she was named Outstanding Business Leader of the Middle East by the New York-based World BPO Forum, which comprises chief information officers of Fortune 500 companies. Mona Al-Marri has proofed that how feminism can be taken into positive paths. Mona Al Marri has set an example of a great female leader. Best leaders are not born, they are made and Mona Al-Marri is an example of it. Her efforts has made the position of women stronger in Arab region, and her constant efforts in the same field will make women hold a very strong position in future.
