Assignment 1

This is a group project limited to 4 or 5 students in a group. The REPORT MUST be in computer printed form and is required to be in the following format.

•The report must be typed text using a double-spaced format.

•The margins for each page must be set at one (1) inch on all four edges.

•The required font to be used throughout the paper, including headings, tables, and figures, is 12 point Times New Roman.

•Add a running page number on every page (e.g., Page 2 of 6). Word will also do this automatically for you on each page. Be sure you use the optional setting that provides this header on page 1, as well as on the subsequent pages.

•Reference Page(s). When you use citations from the text/on-line, these should be referenced too.

Your Task:

  1. Choose at least 3 jobs within your environment and interview at least 1person for each job to calculate the motivating potential score (MPS).

  2. Using the norms table identify the job that has the lowest MPS score and in which core task dimensions is the problem could be.

  3. Based on tasks 1&2, propose job redesign strategies for the identified job and discuss if there are any other aspects of the job apart from the characteristics given in the job characteristics model that need redesigning. Suggest suitable redesign strategies for the same

Job discretion:

  • To manage PTA & CTA operation department, to operate PTA & CTA plants as per the company business, safety and quality plans that is approved by company management.

  • Propose improvement and upgrading projects and lead with his team the implementation also assure the best out come from resources under his management and asset control with full compliance to Ibn Rushd SHEM procedures.

  • Lead implementing all safety in his working area (CTA & PTA) And assure that all his group members are qualified for safety work and with high complain. Attend safety meetings, conduct safety patrolling, follow-up corrective action for any safety violation.


  • Attend safety housekeeping audit and participate in housekeeping Activities. Responsible for plan PHA corrective action and updates. Insure that all members are well understood of all SHEMS' procedures.

  • Assure all operation condition and practice to comply with operation SOPs and production targets. And work to optimize plant unit's performance to active maximum productivity.

  • Control plant assets, annual budget, raw material & utilities combustion. And lead to achieve best manpower utilization by controlling operators and supervisor attendance and annual leave plans.

  • Work with maintenance planning and operation day supervisors to assure implementing equipment’s PM plan and mange equipment BM without any production losses and with assuring high maintenance Quality works.

  • Work with business planning department, raw material and chemical suppliers, and other concerns to assure and control all material supply quantities and qualities to satisfy plant production requirements.

  • Lead and attend TAM activates and assure work quality.

  • Minimum Qualifications (degree, training, or certification required) BSC in Chemical Engineering with 5 years' experience or High school with 15 Years' Experience.

  • Minimum Experience (technical, functional, and/or leadership experience required) Chemical Engineering with 5 years' experience or High school with 15 Years' Experience.

Recommendation :

Task identity, that is ability to complete a piece of work from begin to the end. We need to give employee freedom to complete the work by himself. Where that will require training them very well to do the hall task. To increase his ability. Feeding back him will be important at this point. Then evaluate him to chick from his ability and skills. After that, we need to give him the chance to do small task then bigger tasks.


Autonomy, that about giving employee freedom and flexibility to do the work. After 6 month of increasing task identity, we are able to give employees more freedom to perform their task, as they want. We can give them the ability to finish the work when they want by giving them fixable schedule to do the work. On the other hand, provide different approaches for autonomy. Like telecommuting approach, where employee will be able to work from his or her house at least for two days a week on a computer that linked to employer’s office.

Feedback from job itself, that about the ability of employees to get feedback from his / her tasks by themselves. We can provide specific standers for different tasks to be achieved by the employee. Therefore, it will be like a direction to direct employee to the good performance. We can put these standers in job description for the employee.

  • Performs all administrative tasks of the department such as typing, documents distribution, filing, answering telephone calls, conveying messages etc. Operating multi-function printer for making photocopies, scanning, faxing, compiling saving related documents in systematic manner.

  • Receiving & directing visitors, preparing electronic & manual gate pass, maintaining & supplying enough quantity of office stationery collect & deliver mails to employees.

  • Coordinate & schedule conference room, initiate meeting request, prepare & distribute minutes of meeting after getting approval from concerned.

  • Performs job in SAP such as PR creation, Service Entry Sheet, safety consumables requisition, shift entry etc.

  • Prepare necessary arrangements for new employee reception and employee related like creation e-mail as ESS and SSRS account.
