ENG 107

Tutorial 10 – Wordy sentences: I find it a struggle with certain topics to write long essays on due to how short each sentence and explanations ends up being in the body paragraph. Improving my skills on adding more words into a short sentence to be less brief, but more expansive with my wording will help me with improving and expanding on the details I would like to put into on an essay with a topic that doesn’t inspire me as much as I’d like it to.

Tutorial 13 – Informal Language : I grew up watching television and reading magazines in English but they were mostly using informal English with many words and phrases that are not grammatically and contextually accurate. So, I would like to improve my everyday English and learn the formal way of writing and I would like to know how and where to use the informal part of the language.

Tutorial 17 – The semicolon, the Colon, and Quotation Marks: I do need improvement to how and when to use “semicolons, colons and quotation marks”. Always had issues on when I am supposed to use a semi colon over colon. I do know that they are both used to join two main clauses, but I am not familiar what makes one unique from the other, I personally had issues on when semicolons don’t apply and a colon is more appropriate to use.

Tutorial 22 – Noun Plurals: Noun plural rules change from one language to another, but in English it seems like certain words have a irregular plurals, I find though harder to identify the singular noun counter part of. Certain noun like radius’s plural form isn’t “radiuses” but radii, which I wouldn’t known unless I heard of the plural previously.
