  1. Q. What major risks does your organization need to continuously manage in order to minimize the potential for human, property, legal and/or environmental-based loss?

A. The risks include particular and pure risks that entail damage to individuals and property including storms fires and building collapse. The other type is a fundamental risk that is caused by external factors like nuclear pollution, war, and industrial disputes. The third category is a speculative risk which entails loss of money and time that emanates from the unexpected adverse weather, ground conditions, delays, late delivery of information, and poor direction.

  1. Q. In what manner are all levels of management prompted to quantify the extent of risk that a given situation poses to the organization?

A. The risks are quantified depending on the degree and the level of damage. The damage may be high, medium, or low. They are also quantified depending on the losses incurred when the risk occurs.

  1. Q. To what extent are management personnel prompted to view the extent of loss (e.g., people, material, time, facility, product, environmental, legal, etc.) that typically occurs as the result of workplace accidents?

A. The management team in (company name) is highly committed to its workers and it struggles to ensure that they stay safe. There is also a welfare program for the workers that ensures that the needs and grievances of the workers are met.

  1. Q. Are supervisory personnel prompted to view the safety/risk management support individual as a partner or a necessary evil within the organization?

A. The teams have been taught to look out for each other and be their colleagues’ keepers. However, it is not because it is a necessary evil to look out for each other. In fact, there are training programs and other job activities that require workers to work in groups hence increasing cohesion among them.

  1. Q. What types of activities are first line supervisors responsible for routinely performing in order to prevent the occurrence of people, property, legal and environmental losses?

A. The first line activities include warnings; at the construction line, supervisors initially mark the fire assembly points and identify alarms that can be used in times of danger.

  1. Q. In what manner are people, property, and other forms of loss tracked in order to determine how effective the organization’s at preventing loss?

A. Before entering the construction, all workers, visitors, and supervisors must sign in and out for emergency purposes. There are workers in charge of taking inventory every morning and evening so that the management team can track loss of property.

  1. What approaches are used to minimize the extent of worker compensation-
    related losses once an employee injury or illness has occurred?

A. All employees are registered in one insurance company where monthly premiums are deducted from their salaries, to cater for them in times of loss. In addition, the company workers also make personal contributions to help those who are ill or injured.

  1. Q. What processes does your organization have in place in order to ensure that applicable OSHA standards are met in order to decrease the presence of risk?

A. The company has put in place alarm systems that warn workers in case of danger. Secondly, every time (company name) has a construction project, they carry with them fire extinguishers that can put out all types of fires. ln other words, they have put in place numerous safety measures according to the OSHA requirements.

  1. Q. To what extent are management personnel coached on their need to control the various people, procedural, materials, equipment and environment-based risk factors that are present in
    their respective departments?

A. (company name) workers have workshops every three months that increase their knowledge of how to conduct themselves at the workplace and reduce risks.

  1. Q. To what extent are employees and their supervisors urged to report near hit as well as injury-producing situations?

A. Employees have been trained to report incidents, including the minor ones because when they are ignored, they might result in future disasters.

  1. Q. What company procedures are management personnel require to follow with regard to accident reporting, analysis and recurrence prevention?

A. They are supposed to report their immediate supervisors who in turn report to the higher management.

  1. QUESTION FOR THE STUDENT – Based on the above management-related responses, what is your overall reaction to how proactive the respective company is at managing the various risks which are inherent to its operation(s)?

A. The company’s efforts towards risk management are satisfactory. The company appears to have met most of the OSHA standards that entail training of employees on safety standards, among them putting in place fire and early warning systems. The workers’ cohesiveness and teamwork contributed to the minimization of risks at the workplace and the overall success of the firm.
