Desai, M., Phillips-Howard, P. A., Odhiambo, F. O., Katana, A., Ouma, P., Hamel, M. J., ... & Slutsker, L. (2013). An analysis of pregnancy-related mortality in the KEMRI/CDC health and demographic surveillance system in western Kenya. PLoS One8(7), e68733.

There are various causes of human mortality within the Kenyan community. Desai et al. (2013) however narrow these causes down to child birth and similar reasons. While in most developing countries, there is a time for this particular cause of infant and maternal mortality, Kenya seems to be struggling with the issue, and it is a major cause of concern as it has a significant impact on the health system. This source is valuable to my research as it contains information that gives data and statistics on the most common causes of death among people in Kenya. I will use the information on this research to justify the objectives, cultures, and systems of care within Kenya and use the basis to compare it with the one in the US.

Kihuba, E., Gathara, D., Mwinga, S., Mulaku, M., Kosgei, R., Mogoa, W., ... & English, M. (2014). Assessing the ability of health information systems in hospitals to support evidence-informed decisions in Kenya. Global health action7(1), 24859.

Medical use of information systems in operation and the provision of health care is one revolution noticeable in many countries around the world. Many medical institutions are turning to the use of health information systems and advanced technology to offer care for its patients. This study by Kihuba et al. (2014) projects the issues that Kenya is grappling with when it comes to information technology and information systems use of the country’s health care systems. The research paper is very resourceful as it highlights the current challenges that the country is facing in the implementation of digitized care. Furthermore, the future projections in the paper will be handy in my work as I will use these formulate prospective solutions to the challenges that the country is facing.

Molyneux, S., Tsofa, B., Barasa, E., Nyikuri, M. M., Waweru, E. W., Goodman, C., & Gilson, L. (2016). Research involving health providers and managers: ethical Issues faced by researchers conducting diverse health policy and systems research in Kenya. Developing world bioethics16(3), 168-177.

Many issues that a health care system faces may be solved through the use of commissions of inquiry and action groups. There are those that need the intervention of policy makers. Molyneux et al. (2016) through their research reveal some of the intervention methods that the country is using in addressing its needs. Through the challenges that the researchers face, one can depict and formulae solution of various types. This research reveals individual ethics and data that will be valuable in my research. I will use this to project the current health status and offer background about the healthcare system in Kenya. This places me in a position to effectively compare these statistics with those of the US.

Ndila, C., Bauni, E., Mochamah, G., Nyirongo, V., Makazi, A., Kosgei, P., ... & Williams, T. N. (2014). Causes of death among persons of all ages within the Kilifi Health and Demographic Surveillance System, Kenya, determined from verbal autopsies interpreted using the InterVA-4 model. Global health action7(1), 25593.

This research magnifies the gaps that Kenya has had in the delivery of quality health care. Lack of proper records for patients and the deceased are issues that are significant to the health care system of the country. Ndila et al. (2014) through this paper go beyond typical assumptions and show just where the distinct improvement on health care systems should be made to provide better care for citizens. I will, therefore, use this information to expand my research to capture the challenges and future solutions to some of the fundamental yet uncommon problems within the Kenyan health care systems.

Pleasant (2013) gives a definite background and comparison of the US and other countries including Kenya. The focus of the study is to the health awareness and information systems. The in-depth research works around the value of education in seeking healthcare assistance and the value that it brings in patient participation in health care provision. This aspect of comparison is critical in comparing and understanding the United States health care systems and that of Kenya. This information is further essential to my research as it provides a background for data comparison and analysis of present health care systems. I will, therefore, use this information to make a conclusion and summary of my research based on its context.
