Plastic Poll

My teacher note and instructor

Your paper will discuss the ways in which your form of pop culture explores the social issue you chose: For example, Sweatshop: Dead Cheap Fashion is a reality television show that explores the harsh

realities of sweatshops. It has all of the elements of reality television, but it focuses on a major social issue. Cooked is a docu-series based off of the book of the same title that is not only a cooking show, but also highlights the issues with our food industry. You could look at sci-fi, comics, a specific genre of music, fashion industry, the “tiny house” movement, etc...Just choose a specific topic and look at it through a specific form of pop culture. If you look at sci-fi, for example, choose one or two shows that tackle a social issue—For example, both Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Dr. Who have episodes that deal with immigration. There are several television HGTV type shows and documentaries, and magazines that focus on the “tiny house” movement (including their use as homes for the homeless)

Great topic, but don't forget that you need to also look at a form of popular culture that is taking on this issue. For example, are there any documentaries or docu-series that looks at this issue? Or is there a video game that educates people about the issue. Or is there a social media campaign that deals with the issue.

Your topic is excellent, but you definitely need to use a popular cultural medium as the lens.

Also, make sure your citations are consistent in formatting. APA uses what is called "sentence" style for citing articles. You have some of them cited in APA, some in MLA. Make sure they are the same format.

Also, source titles are italicized (book, journal, magazine, film, newspaper, albums, television show...)

Citations 1, 3, 5 are not in APA format. Nor are you journal titles italicized, and some of your author citations are cited incorrectly.

Siracusa, Valentina. (2012). "Food packaging permeability behaviour: A report". Journal of Polymer Science, Vol. 2012. ( you need issue number, and the page range, not the number of pages)

Please Google APA citations, and make sure you are citing your citations in either all APA, or all MLA but don't mix them up.
