STATEMENT OF WORK  1 | Page  CUBED COFFEE DISSOLVABLE    STATEMENT OF WORK FOR DJ INNOVATIONS DESIGN, DEVELOP AND MARKET CUBED COFFEE DISSOLVABLE BACKGROUND DJ Innovations wants to accomplish a newly created product called Cubed Coffee Dissolvable. The product has been created from the idea of simplifying coffee by creating a product that alleviates the mess and time it takes to brew a cup of coffee and instead creating cube of instant coffee that only needs to be dropped and dissolved into a cup of hot water. This product will be prepared to launch in 12 months starting February 2015. IPECC will act as a consultant to DJ Innovations to design and develop this product throughout the next 12 months. Once the Cubed Coffee Dissolvable are designed and developed, IPECC will complete the project by consulting with DJ Innovations to market the product. SCOPE The product will need to be developed to encompass the ability of allowing the user of the Cubed Coffee Dissolvable to think of obtaining their morning cup of coffee in simpler, cleaner, and more refined manner. The dissolvable will have to be created from the most renowned and freshest sources of coffee beans from around the world. The Cubed Coffee Dissolvable must set it’s self apart from what the most sophisticated of coffee drinkers consider “Instant” coffee to be, by setting new market trends to establish itself as a go to source for a deliciously fresh cup of coffee.

DJ Innovations Cubed Coffee Dissolvable will not be just another package of instant coffee that simply replaces the need for coffee on the run. It will not be lumped into a simplified product in which only a few flavors and variations exist. The focus of the product will not be the way the in which the coffee is delivered, but rather the experience in which the coffee is delivered to DJ Innovations customers. The Cubed Coffee Dissolvable will not only focus on the typical demographics of this type of coffee consumer, it will expand into new untapped areas for market growth!   TASKS Team IPECC will undertake the following high-level major tasks in this project: 1) Identification of Customer Needs, 2) Product Specification, 3) Concept Generation, 4) Concept Selection, 5) Patents and Intellectual Property Research and Evaluation.

Identification of Customer Needs: The approach the team will take to identify customer needs will include determining customer selection through the use of a Customer Selection Matrix, in which a survey will be sent out to acquire information specific to the needs of that target market. Survey results will be logged into a Customer Response Template where their needs will be categorized by importance, then by type of need, likes, and dislikes. Product Specifications: The team will approach product specification by first creating a list of metrics and using this list, along with the needs expressed by surveys, to create a Needs-Metrics Matrix. The next step will involve competitive benchmarking where a Competitive Benchmark Chart will record competition analysis data. From this data, we can set target values for the established metrics and develop a Cost Model to reflect the target cost of the product.

Concept Generation approach will include clarifying the problem into sub-problems that the product will address through a Problem Decomposition Function Diagram. The team will conduct research for possible existing solutions to the sub-problems through various means. A Brainstorming Session will use the team’s knowledge and experience to gather additional solution possibilities. The information obtained through external and internal means will be compiled into a Concept Classification Table.

Concept Selection will be approached by the team through creation of a Selection Matrix to screen, rate, and rank the concepts generated during the Concept Generation task. The next task will involve evaluating the results of the Selection Matrix and combining possible concepts to determine the most promising concepts to pursue.

Patents and Intellectual Property: The team will approach this task through research around patents and intellectual property and go through the steps involved to complete a provisional patent application. DELIVERABLES At the conclusion of the project, Team IPECC will turn over a Contract Book, Postmortem Report, and Lessons Learned Evaluation. The Contract Book will show the work performed on the project and will be comprised of various project management documents including: Mission Statement, Customer Needs Analysis, Competitive Analysis, Product Specifications, and Project Plan. The Postmortem Report will define the completed project, the requirements that the project fulfilled and the end results of the project. Included in this report will be a restatement of the project objective, restatement of acceptance criteria, changes and/or modifications, any open issues, future enhancements, acceptance sign off, summary and any applicable appendices.

The Lessons Learned Evaluation will help future project teams by pointing out positive and negative aspects learned during the course of the project. The evaluation will include pitfalls to avoid and insight into processes discovered that helped the project run smoothly.
