Module 4, The Playwright

With Trump’s slow response to assist the people of Puerto Rico, a very talented lyricist, composer, playwright, actor, and singer was brought to my attention. To my surprise, Lin-Manuel Miranda has had a big influence on theatre, film and in television during the past decade.

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s ability for composing the lyrics and music for his original soundtracks has had the largest impact on the industry. In 2008, “In the Heights”, he won a Grammy Award for the Best Musical Theatre Album. Disney Animated movie “Moana” he composed and song on the movie's soundtrack. He has a natural ability for impromptu fress style rap as seen on an episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Miranda has won a Pulitzer Prize, three Tony Awards, two Grammys, an Emmy, and has been nominated for an Academy Award. He additionally was the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship in 2015. In 2016, Time magazine included him in its annual Time 100 as one of the "Most Influential People in the World" and he received a star on the Puerto Rico Walk of Fame.

On June 22, 2017, it was announced that Miranda would be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2018 according to Vibe.com.
