Meats that are red when raw are considered as red meat. Red meat is derived from farm-reared mammals such as beef, lamb/mutton, pork, veal, venison, and goat. It does not include chicken, turkey, duck, etc. Red meat has more protein (myoglobin) than white meat. Red meat has been a very important part of the human diet throughout human evolution . It has both health benefits and drawbacks.

Red meat is an important part of the human diet for a long time. There are also studies which claim that consumption of red meat is linked with the increase in the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer. In a study done by the British Nutrition Foundation, they explained the importance of meat in providing proteins from amino acid chains, and red meat is an essential component of these amino acids. Red meat is also considered to be a great source of iron, which is required to create hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying protein found in red blood cells. Without enough iron, this whole process slows down. this suggests iron plays a vital role in maintaining a person’s energy levels. An individual with iron deficiency feels an absence of energy, shortness of breath, and headache.

Red meat provides human beings with some essential nutrients and proteins. Vitamin B12 also comes from red meat, which helps make DNA and keeps nerves and red blood cells healthy and also Vitamin b12 helps in boosting metabolism, deficiency of B12 can lead to many health problems such as aging, neurological disorders, and mental illness. Red meat also provides human beings with omega-3 fatty acids which helps in lower blood pressure, reduce triglycerides, slow the development of plaque in the arteries, reduce the chance of abnormal heart rhythm, reduce the likelihood of heart attack and stroke, lessen the chance of sudden cardiac death in people with heart disease. Vitamin D is also an important vitamin obtained from red meat which is important for the development of teeth, bones and helps to fight certain diseases. Another important mineral, zinc supports the healthy function of the immune system, a good and healthy immune system is essential for a healthy lifestyle, particularly during cold and flu season. One way to make sure it’s functioning as well as possible is to make sure you’re getting enough zinc. A person can get zinc from other foods as well, but it is better absorbed when it comes from meat. Zinc also help in maintaining physiological functions, including structure in certain proteins and enzymes. Other than zinc red meat is also a source of magnesium, copper, cobalt, phosphorus, chromium, nickel, and selenium. Protein provided my red meat is also important to build bones and muscles.

Although eating red meat is good for your health, research has concluded that excessive ingestion of red meat is related to cancer. Red meat is linked with an increased risk of cancer. It is safe and okay to consume red meat, but the suggested and recommended safe amount is 500 grams per week. Many studies and research conclude that the consumption of red meat is the cause of cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Red meat is usually high in fats and cholesterol. Saturated fats are the main cause of the clogged artery which leads to health complications. Experts also believe that eating a large amount of red meat can also cause cancer. There are certain chemicals in red meat that are present naturally and some generate through cooking which is the main cause of cancer. “Heem” is a chemical that is found in red meat, it causes the damage to the cells in gut and results in bowel cancer. Red meat is also associated with another type of cancer such as rectum cancer, prostate, and pancreatic cancer.

A broad variety of factors may lead to early death. In reality, a major analysis by a team of Harvard researchers found a correlation between red meat and the cause of death. Besides dying earlier, those who consumed the more red meat suffered most frequently from respiratory disease and cancer. Although the research revealed a correlation between meat consumption and mortality, other variables were also present in the sample. Of starters, these people weighed more, studied fewer, consumed cigarettes, and drank more alcohol. The research was reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and also found that grilled and barbecued meat is often linked with an elevated risk of kidney cancer. The analysis will not appear to be a source and researchers advise that you do not take red meat out of your diet entirely. Instead, the researcher advised Reuters Health that one would "limit the consumption of red and refined meat and prepare meat through cooking methods such as baking and broiling." Research on the possibility of association of red meat with cancer has been a subject of scientific debate for decades. However, by drawing out the conclusion that processed meat causes cancer and the lean meat may cause cancer, the results of the World Health Organization survey far exceed the provisional association reported by other groups It is. For example, the American Cancer Society focused on the fact that many studies discovered a "linkage" between eating red meat and increasing the risk of colorectal cancer. But it did not tell people that meat causes cancer. The American Cancer Society says that diets including large amounts of vegetables and fruits, a small amount of red meat and processed meat are associated with a reduction in the risk of colorectal cancer, but the important factors in this diet are completely It is not clear.

Some people prefer not to consume meat because they don't believe in killing animals because there are other ways to satisfy their nutritional needs. Some react to cattle being born in vast agricultural facilities, often referred to as factory farms. Such farms are overcrowded and sometimes do not require livestock to get adequate food, sunshine, or space to run. Antibiotics are also given to livestock to avoid infection, which may contribute to tolerance to antibiotics. Some animals are given steroid hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone to promote development. This gives rise to potential environmental and legal issues. The environmental consequences of factory farming have also been criticised, in particular the waste created during processing and slaughter, as well as the high cost of grain- meat production.

It is difficult to relate a food or food group to health problems. This is because a variety of other factors, including biology, the environment, health background, stress rates, sleep quality, lifestyle, and other dietary factors, that play a role in whether or not a individual develops a particular disorder or disease. Nevertheless, the body of evidence that consuming large quantities of red meat, particularly processed meat, may lead to health problems is that. Large health groups recommend consuming more vegetables and less foods to help combat disease. For this cause, people would prefer to limit red and fried meat and to concentrate on foods that contain antioxidants and nutrients, such as fruits and vegetables, which may help avoid health problems. It is important to note that substituting red meat for refined, low-quality carbohydrates can worsen insulin sensitivity, triglyceride levels, and overall health.

Red meat is a good source of proteins, vitamins, and minerals, and it is very important to form a balanced diet. But if you consume it in a large amount it increases the risk of different cancers and cardiovascular diseases. It doesn’t mean that red meats shouldn’t be consumed at all, it can be consumed but in limits. According to the health experts per day, consumption should be no more than 1 serving a day or 3-4 times per week, which is like 70g per day. Processed red meat should not be consumed at all. The vitamins, minerals, and nutrients which humans get from the red meat can also be obtained from other sources as well. The risk of diseases can be avoided by eating less often, eating a smaller amount, eating alternatives like chicken and turkey meat, and by not smoking and exercising regularly while consuming red meat.
