How can I validate my IT industry certification to my admissions officer ?

Contact your Strayer admissions officer or success coach and provide them with the certification from the issuing authority.

If I do not have a physical certificate to show my admissions officer, how else can I verify it?

Reach out to the issuing authority for supporting documentation that verifies your certificate and provide this by email to your success coach.

Is there a limit to how many courses can be waived by certifications?

No, as long as you verify each certificate Strayer will accept it.

Is a certification considered a life experience credit?

No, a life experience credit is learning outside of a classroom setting such as a seminar, internship, or volunteer work.

If I have a certification that is not on the list, will it still count?

If the certificate is not listed on our page, Strayer does not count it toward any classes. Please click on the following link to review all the certificates Strayer accepts.

The intended audience for this FAQ are people who have completed IT certifications outside of college, would like to transfer it over for college credits, and are unsure how to do so. The purpose of writing of this FAQ is to provide further information on the process as the webpage does not go into details and simply states to contact the admissions officers for details. I personally had issues with this process, contacted multiple admission officers, and was given inconsistent information. The questions are crafted to address the gaps left by the webpage and the answer provided are accurate and to the point.
