  • To provide quality services that will ensure everyone can access the services they need.

  • To decrease mortality rates in the community, which ultimately will lead to increased lifespan of members of the community.

Vision

  • Our vision is to achieve improvement of health amongst lower class Americans and increase the life span amongst the members of the community served.

  • Reduce death rates caused by preventable or treatable diseases.

Out of these beds, about 1,500 are usually occupied making the available beds for new patients to be 700 or more throughout the year.

Quality indicators

Prevention Quality Indicators

Memorial Hospital’s inpatient data reveals that many patients have been discharged shortly after admission to the hospital due to early interventions and preventive measures taken by our able personnel.

Inpatient Quality Indicators

The quality of inpatient care is above average regularly monitored to allow room for improvement. Mortality rates have reduced over the years since its establishment.

Patient Safety Indicators

Data on patients who have undergone surgical procedures, and other invasive medical procedure reveal that the recovery rate for many patients have improved. Very few reports of complications resulting from the procedures have been reported. Cases of complications and side effects have been managed effectively, and most patients recovering fully-even after developing complications.

Financial performance Indicators

Financial statements, which are in the form of a balance sheet, act as the main indicators in pointing out financial performance over the years. It gives an account debtors, creditors, and financial donations received annually.

Human Resource Challenges

Memorial Hospital’s Human Resources Department is faced with the challenge of recruiting more personnel. This is mainly because the area and community served is known to be dangerous due to rampant crime and drug related incidences in the area. Another challenge lies in managing the available personnel who have formed unions and are pushing for a pay increase.

Diversity Issues

We have upheld a culture of diversity, employing people from the immediate community and outside of the community. The racial and ethnic balance in employees stands at a ratio of 1:1 ranging from Caucasians, African-Americans, Hispanics, and Asians. This is to uphold an inclusive environment where everyone can feel represented. This diversity has come with its share of problems since some employees tend to form cliques, based on their backgrounds and past experiences. This has seen an increase in tension in the various departments in the hospital. The issue is being combated in the best way possible by ensuring that each department has lunch mixers and reasons to work together so that there is inclusion in the facility.

Community Population Statistics

The total population of the community we are serving is 170,000. The women make up most of the population at 100, 00 while men are 70,000. 85% of the members of the community fall in the lower class category socially with only 15% belonging to the middle-class category. The last few years has seen a population projection of approximately more than 20,000 people owing to the availability of health care.

The infant mortality rates have reduced by 5% to fall to 1% up from 6 % in the last five years. The population of children has therefore shot up from 20,000 to 30,000. This has been enabled by the quality of pre-natal and post-natal care that has been made available to the mothers and the children.
