In David Silverman's essay “In defense of multitasking” and in peter Bregman’s essay “ How and why to stop multitasking”, both authors in fact develop the best strategies to complete an assignment. Both authors use panning as an essential to success. The only difference is their definition to success seem to vary. David Silverman’s essay “In defense of multitasking” gives the best understanding on the situation of multitasking in the 20th century. While Peter Bregman’s point of view state the less multitasking the better the task will be accomplished.David Silverman's provided the best point on why we in the 20th century multitask.

David Silverman's essay is more reflected towards the quality in which quantities of multitasking are being performed. It provides a better understanding that even if one Multitasks more things are being done yet each task is not being performed at its best capacity. In defense Silvermans states “Yeah, other people can’t do it, but I’m super awesome at doing 10 things at once.” stating that infact what may work for some may in deed slow down others. I agree with the statement provided because i myself have said this statement when it comes to getting something before a deadline. Silverman’s believes one who multitask will have a better organization and productivity skills. Multitasking helps us get information faster when completing a task instead having to direct your whole attention to an individual task when perform. David gives a good example to understand that the higher you are in organization the more likely you are to complete the tasks being provided at your disposal.

There are daily tasks one has to accomplish during the day that required multitasking for example such as chores and many more. The author provides us with an example of things he has had to stay on top of .”But if I’m the general contractor, I need to stay on top of the house painter, the carpenter, the electrician, and the guy swinging that big ball on the end of a giant chain, lest the wrong wall or an unsuspecting worker get demolished.” In order to be successful as a contractor one has to multitask to keep everything in order.

David states “What do you think? Are we comfortable pretending we really can live our lives not multitasking?.” When one's time is measured time becomes a valuable possession to be wasted at not multitasking. Multitasking helps save time to get more task provided.Society needs to realize the overload one as a college student is taking in order to accomplish a degree. Multitasking is the best friend of many without it most things would not get accomplished in the appropriate time.

In conclusion i believe one can not prevent multitasking. Without multitasking multiple work and projects would go unfinished. As Silverman states “ I find that when i multitask, i am more successful.” Yet again aiming towards perfection while multitasking is impossible to accomplish. It is a balance between quality and quantity being performed.
