The Millinery Shop is the largest and perhaps the most ambitious painting by Edgar Degas. It captures the interior of a small nineteenth-century millinery shop. The repetition that is being used in the painting, are the multiple hats and colors that are used.  Millinery shops are known for their hats which is why there are so many in the painting. The woman in the painting who may work there or is a customer, is seen holding a hat and sitting near all of them. Degas also uses complimentary colors in the painting that is also repeated throughout it.  The Millinery Shop achieves harmony by its use of color and use of forms and marks.

The Millinery Shop by Hilaire Germain Edgar Degas is an oil painting on a canvas made in 1879-1886. Degas used unity to help the painting make sense as a whole piece. It helps make the viewers able to tell what the painting is. A lot of texture was used in this painting which helps bring the oil painting to life. Harmony was achieved in tis painting by the colors used, the colors are  visually satisfying to viewers. Some repeating elements would be the use of brush work, a lot of the brush work looks the same.
