College Behind Bars: Keeping an Idea Alive

The majority of Americans agree that education is valuable to everyone in this country. The problem arises when a person is locked up in prison and need an education so that they can improve their chances of a getting a job or adjust to the outside world upon release from prison.

Respond to the two questions below with thorough explanation.

1. Should states provide a free education for prisoners who are locked up? Why or Why not?
2. Can prisoners be truly given a chance upon release with a good paying job if they have an education? Why or why not?
