The Wolves is a play by Sarah Delappe that premiered in 2016. The wolves are a high school soccer team made up of teenage girls who are involved in a dialogue during their warm-up period before every game played each week. The team comprises girls who have differences in views and feelings. Conflict emerges during their interaction, and in some cases, accidents are experienced. In their final game, they all turn up except #14, who dies in a car accident (Strange, 2021). The group becomes reunited as they play the final game with their full potential. The play presents the potential and experience of American teenage girls, which helps develop and understand their characteristics and personality traits.

The American teenage girl experience is considered unique, as illustrated by the characteristics of the girls in The Wolves. The uniqueness of the American girl emerges from her open involvement and opinion towards different social issues. The girls in the Wolves team have the freedom to discuss any topic they find relevant to them (Strange, 2021). They are also free with each other when they are involved in a conflict. Others are characterized by cooperation and support for each other, as provided by the statement that "We’re Women that’s like what we do" (Strange, 2021, p.5). Such instances display the uniqueness of the American girl.

The portrayal of young women in this way is around 50% believable. In the current society, women empowering other women has promoted openness which is currently experienced in different fields (Strange, 2021). Working as a team is one of the strategies used by women in the 21st century. Cooperation is spotted in most activities regardless of their differences in different areas. For instance, “we the people in order to form a more perfect union establish justice ensure domestic tranquility provide for the common defense promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity to ordain and establish this constitution for the united states of America ”is a song that the wolves sing together to how cooperation and unity directed by similar goal (Strange, 2021, p.143).such is an experience that has been witnessed in most winning teams that belong to women. Therefore, approximately half of women in the current society have these characteristics.

The other half of the women's portrayal is not believable. In the United States, some women hold conflict and are not open with others. Once these individuals undergo a separation, they are highly likely to be separated forever. Conflict prevails in these cases and women tend to hold them longer. Grudges emerge from simple statements or actions that other involve in willingly or unwillingly. The differences between these individuals presents the main reason why they are in constant conflict with each other. For instance, the team members speak arrogantly towards each other in statements such as “you got my period on your cleats fool, SUCK IT” (Strange, 2021 p.10). These individuals can hardly cooperate or work together. Thus, the 50% portrayal of women in the play is unbelievable.

In conclusion, Delappe helps develop characteristics of young women. She displays them as energetic, cooperative, and open. Such characteristics portray a believable 50% of American women, which means that 50% do not have these characteristics. Therefore, Delappe displays women in a way that portrays characteristics which is somehow believable.
