1. why xylem and phloem are called complex tissues? 2.why is epidermis important for the plants?

  1. They are called complex tissues because they consist of many types of cell.
  2. Mainly it forms a boundary to protect internal tissues of plants just like our skin protects us being an outer layer.

The four types of cells which can be usually found in xylem are: tracheids, vessel elements, xylem parenchyma cells and xylem fibers. ( Parenchyma cells are the only alive cells that can be found in the xylem tissue)

N.B : Either tracheids or vessel elements exist in xylem tissue. Both does not exist in one.Xylem of flowering plants contains vessel elements and others tracheids)

The four types of cells which can be usually found in phloem are: Sieve tubes, companion cells, phloem parenchyma cells and phloem fibers. (phloem fibers are the only cells that are found dead in the phloem tissue)
