1) How did the United States become involved in the imperial game between the late 19th and early 20th centuries? What social, political, and economic forces motivated U.S. policy during this period?

4) How did the Roosevelt Administration view the threat from Germany and Japan to the survival of the United States during the early 1940s? How did the administration work around neutrality laws and the neutrality sentiment within American society during this period?
5) Was the United States an isolationist country from 1920-1940? Be sure to support your assertion with examples from each decade of this 20-year period.
