Consider the purpose of anti-cybersquatting laws. Should these laws be extended beyond internet domain names to user names on Facebook and Twitter? Why or why not? Be sure to cite at least one law in your response.

Cybersquatting is an even newer term. It basically means if someone holds a trademark and another party is holding the domain name hostage until a great deal of money is paid for it, the first party is a victim of cybersquatting. This practice began in the early days of the internet. Businesses were not too tech savy and others would buy up lucrative domain names.

The legal system has caught up with these practices and two options are now available to victims to seek relief. Victims can sue under the provisions of the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act (ACPA), or use an international arbitration system created by the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

Be sure to research both of these options and include the guidelines to be followed in your post.
