ESSAY:

America is facing a student debt crisis, one of the biggest financial crisis since the mortgage crisis in December 2007- June of 2009 many may refer to this time as the recession. The money owed in student loan debt is over 1 trillion dollars. According to (Kapadia, 2015) there could have been an alternative way to prevent being in so much debt. It is fact that we have a crisis on our hands 1.3 trillion is a lot of money to expect from already struggling Americans with student loan repayment plans costing as much as their mortgage payment. Student loan lenders offer very little fixability when it comes to repaying loans also including college student have very little knowledge concerning debt and the long term impacts a person is left to deal with. Millions of Americans are faced with debt (Kapadia, 2015) feels that student loan debt is more effective once a person owes money back to the federal government for any loan it waves any changes of filing the loan in bankruptcy. Students loans are required to be repaid until death it does not depend if you are employed with your dream job or making the big buck you expected to be making.

Its seems as if people in America are being penalized for wanting a better life for themselves and family by earning a college education. College tuition has gone up dramatically in the past decade causing college students increasingly to barrow so they can keep up with the inflation in college tuition. Many individuals plan to attend college earn a college degree and maybe meet the love of their life few individuals count on racking up a crazy student loan bill that plans to kick them in the butt as soon as they are off to their new adult life. I often wonder could student loans be a set-up, I have yet to understand why would the government loan struggling college students thousands of dollars with no collateral. In agreement with Kapadia, I feel there could be solutions to saving the student loan crisis.

I am a college student in my mid twenty’s who wish to earn my college degree so that I am able to earn more income so I am able to provide for my family and live the lifestyle I want. I have notice over the past few years that I have attended college I have realize the inflation in the cost of college tuition. In the beginning, I started my freshmen year off at a community college which did not cost me as much per credit hour due to me being a in-state resident. Now that I am attending a private college the cost is more per credit hour although I am an in-state resident. College tuition cost does depend on rather the college is private, community or university rather the student is in-state or in the service etcetra. I just want to be able to graduate from college in little student loan debt and find a career in the field of study I attended college for.

The student loan finical crisis is impacting the economy in a horrid way un-imageable, the second crisis sense the 2007 recession. It seems as sense the crisis those who needed a bailout such as the auto industry and housing received a bail out from the former President Barack Obama Administration. The Obama Administration notice the impacts the student loan debt was having on the economy and acted introduction the student loan forgiveness program. The program was a great idea and was designed to do in consideration for those who have been struggling with repaying their student loan debt. The actual problem is that our country is in debt and it creating finical student loan crisis which is impacting tax payers, could there be other ways to have this debt paid down maybe through community service or working in low poverty areas in exchange to repay debt.

The author in “A solution for student loan crisis” wants people to be aware of student loans and how they have impacted many Americans and the economy creating a finical crisis. The author also argues and I agree that there should have been more things in place a long time ago concerning student loan repayments. This could have assisted with keeping up with the debt instead of letting the debt get out of control. The author stated facts and was very creditable in the writing giving example of how the Obama Administration and FASFA plays a major role in solutions to the student loan crisis and they can help reduced the debt by eliminating debt or creating programs so that repayment options are not so limited. Although, unemployment rates are still up college student really should consider looking into the demand of their program this will allow student to understand where the expectations of the dream career could be in a few years.

Being in debt is not as bad as it may seem, its having debt that you do not see yourself paying off this life time that is stressful. Although, it is proven that those individuals who have a college degree will make more in a life time than those who have just a high school diploma. However, should us college student have to be left with so much debt at the end of our college experience. Accruing debt can teach a person a thing or two beside the negative side of debt such as, being in debt gives self-discipline. I have student loan debt myself and it is way more than the staggering $26000 the average college student accrue in four years at a university. I will have the dream career, home and car I desire I will not let student loan debt consume me because I will always find a solution to the issue.
