A middle aged diabetic woman is taken to ED after a MVA (motor vehicle accident). She has a compound fracture of her tibia. Imaging shows a comminuted fracture. In respect to this patient describe the tissue response to the injury, treatment, relevant plain film imaging and possible complications that might occur.
