A written report on any event in local, national or global media concerning Muslim women and/or Muslims in general. Your report must an analysis of the real-world event while demonstrating knowledge that you have gained from our class readings. If your media event requires you to do some reading that we have not covered yet in class, then you are responsible to do the readings yourself. For example, if your media article covers Female Genital Mutilation and we have not gotten to that topic in our syllabus then you are responsible to read ahead and learn something so that you can analyze the way in which the event was presented to you via media. Your Media report should demonstrate an informed and critical response, not just a re-presenting of the event. Simply re- presenting or retelling the news event will end up in reduction of points.
