After completing the assigned readings for the week and watching the documentary, you will discuss whether or not the risks outweigh the benefits regarding biotechnology for treatment of diseases such as cancer and HIV/AIDS. Consider whether or not so-called "Western countries" are under a moral or ethical obligation to find cures for diseases such as HIV and malaria in under-developed countries.
