Many of the laws and policies that have been put into effect in the last 40 years by elected officials at local, state, and national levels have wrecked the US economy, widened the economic gap between the extremely rich and the other 98% of the US population, eliminated protections of voting rights, raised new barriers to voting rights, reduced protection of the environment, defended and protected environmental polluters, reduced funding of public education, increased the political power of the largest corporations in the world, and allowed the US infrastructure to age into dangerous disrepair.
