1-            So, do you think people are opposed to these types of developments in their religion because they view their worship as more than spiritual?  Is it because they also use their religion as a tool to promote racism or other non-religious agendas?  Please share.

The great religions of the past grew up in a quite different world and did not have to deal with the moral issues raised by population growth, urban life, corporate business policies, nuclear waste, and environmental pollution. Faced with these entirely new problems, old religions must try to discover within themselves the wisdom to handle these challenges. They will have to fundamentally rethink morality. (page 544)

4-In your opinion, what unique perspectives do religious leaders have in addressing environmental concerns?

5-Here's my question for class discussion: is it self-destructive for a religion to not try to convert others to their faith?  Why or why not?

 6-Why do you think Zen Buddhism became popular starting in the 1950s?  Has anyone came across that information?  Please share.

7-What are the effects of science on religion in the modern world? Do religions have an effect on science? Explain how.

8-This brings up an interesting question: do you think that if we had a better understanding of other religions there would be less anger and animosity toward others?

 The reason I mention this is because after 9/11, there was a growth in anger toward Muslims in the US.
