Applying Multiple Regression

For this discussion, imagine that you work for a hospital that is interested in finding out what variables predict how severe someone's experience with the flu will be. In research, we are often interested in identifying variables that help us predict the outcome of other variables such as disease, academic performance, or professional performance. One way to develop predictions about those outcomes is to examine how well these variables correlate with the outcome through the use of regression analysis. In this assignment, you will be asked to identify possible variables that you would want to examine to be able to predict how severe someone's experience with the flu will be.

• Identify the possible variables that may predict flu severity.
• Describe how each variable, including flu severity, will be measured.
• Describe the type of multiple regression analysis that would be used (standard, sequential, or stepwise) and specify why you selected the analysis type.
