Step 1 Research the techniques of neutralization.

Research the history of Sykes and Matza's Techniques of Neutralization. Use both the textbook and outside resources such as the Internet and library resources.

Step 2 Create a presentation.

Design a five- to eight-slide PowerPoint presentation. The slides should present an introduction to the Techniques of Neutralization (who developed the theory, why it was developed, etc.), the five techniques, an example of each as it relates to ethics in policing and a real life example (can be a personal example of a time when you or someone you know has used a technique to neutralize your feelings about an act or one you make up). Be creative in your presentation.

Please make sure that you cite any and all references/sources (textbook, .edu., .gov., etc.) that you use in APA format or points will be deducted from your grade.  Use your textbook as your primary source of reference, then use other approved sources as your secondary references.
