Two days ago you returned from a field assignment at Weekaskasing Lake, where for three weeks you have been supervisor working with two technicians installing and testing a remote sensing system for measuring radiation levels. The project had to be completed by the 17th of the month, when it could be linked with similar installations at other sites. But one of the technicians injured his hand on the 8th of the month and had to be sent to a hospital in nearby Wedgley City for minor surgery. This cost four days. Time was tight, and with you and only one technician remaining on site it seemed impossible to meet the completion deadline; in fact, you estimated you would finish two days behind schedule.

You did meet the deadline, however, because the uninjured technician suggested she could work an overtime schedule of four hours per day until the lost time was regained. Now you decide to write a report to Janet Handley, your manager, commending the technician for her willingness to give up her time and keep the project on schedule .
