Briefly summarize how cognitive complexity is related to the way people design their message strategies (i.e., what people decide to say to others).  In other words, how is cognitive complexity related to person-centered messages? 

You are in a romantic relationship and your partner comes home upset that he or she got a terrible grade on a very important test.  This poor grade will take your partner’s GPA down to the point where he or she will be put on academic suspension, which will delay graduation and cost him or her money and a potential job that he or she lined up.  How do you console your partner?  Write down the words you would use to console your partner your messages reflected low cognitive complexity.  Then write down the words you would use if your messages reflected high cognitive complexity.
