BSBSMB409 Build and maintain relationships with small business stakeholders Assessment task 2
Project
Finnegan's Fine Flowers is a small business that has been operating for two years. It is owned by Finulla Finnegan, a third generation Australian and her partner Sangeetha Jeetrenda, an Indian woman who has been in Australia for five years.
The vision for the business is to become the first choice for high quality, modern artistic flower arrangements in the district.
The owners pride themselves on new and unusual designs, the freshest flowers possible and on same day delivery with a smile.
Finnegan's Fine Flowers employs three florists - one full-time and two part-time who work on weekends and when the shop is busy. They also have a delivery can driver who works on a contractual arrangement.
Finulla and Sangeetha share the management responsibilities whilst also doing some floristry work. The full-time florist has primary responsibility for taking orders and ensuring that the shop is presentable at all times. This person also supervises the part-time florists. The part-time florists make arrangements and serve customers when the shop is busy.
Finulla and Sangeetha buy their flowers from three preferred suppliers at the flower markets but on occasion buy from any one of a dozen other traders. They also purchase goods such as floristry paper, ribbon and baskets from a large cash and carry warehouse.
Finnegan's Fine Flowers has a relatively regular customer base of about 600. Approximately 30 of these customers are corporate clients who have weekly arrangements delivered to their offices, 100 are loyal customers who purchase arrangements on a regular basis for their own homes, whilst the remainder are special occasion buyers. Other clients will be walk-ins, casual buyers and one-off purchasers.
