Topic #1: Environmental policies- In the spirit of corporate social responsibility, Coca-Cola commits to conduct its business activities in a responsible manner with regard to the impacts such activities have on the environment and its sustainability. Coca- Cola sees to achieve preservation and improvement of environment such that the growth of the comp[any both in the local and international scale creates corresponding decreases in the negative impacts on environment.
Topic #2: Governance and Ethics- Coca-Cola has set high ethical and governance standards and strives to meet them in daily operations and engagement. Sound practices and business principles which Coca-Cola employs are meant to foster a collaborative, innovative and strong culture in line with the values of transparency, accountability and ethical behavior.
Topic #3: Strategic positioning by Coca-Cola- Thinking globally and acting locally is the strategy which Coca-Cola employs to reach its customers in the global market. As such, it employs versatility and has more than 230 brands which meet local tastes and cultures.
However, Coca-Cola has had to face a case of both health and environmental concern. For example, Pure Foods and Drugs Act caused serious challenges in 1909 when caffeine, a substance which had been banned in the United States was ascertained to be present barrels of Coca-Cola syrup. The trial which took place in 1911 saw several testimonies given and tests carried out which, and eventually the company was acquitted of any wrong doing by court judges. This is a case of both environmental and ethical concerns as shown in the topics above. The case also served to strengthen and preserve public image of the company, contributing immensely to its leading market share among ahead of other beverage companies of Pepsi Schweppes and Cadbury.
